ARE WE THE NATION OF AFRAID ?

It is not important if we are ignored by the hardcore politicians and self appointed Messiah of the nation. What's important is whether we have broken our silence on those issues , which we have been brushing under the carpet for decades just to keep the unpleasant situation away.

India has been named time and again amongst the most corrupt and lawless nations in the world , a little above the poverty stricken African countries. We boast of our Nobel laureates, our intelligentsia, our Harvard and Oxford educated bureaucrats and politicians , our Wharton and Ivy league educated industrialists, our Columbia and Cambridge educated Media and Paper Journalists. Yet we are incapable of eradicating the rot that has been eating into our systems and society. Why do we chose to be quite when we see the corrupt amongst us accumulating wealth by siphoning off the public assets and cheating the nation of taxes?

Is it because, we have been taught to be polite or is it because we are simply cowards who would shy away from anything unpleasant or run away when we see an accident or a dyeing person on the street for the fear of being haunted by the police? Why do we overlook when we see goons and rowdy teasing women and when children are fondled by uncouth paedophiles ?

Is it because of the little or no implementation of the laws of the land that makes us afraid of speaking against the evils and intimidating devils of our society? Or is the nexus between the Politicians-underworld-builders-bureaucrats-police and the media that makes us afraid of speaking our mind?

Why do our leaders hesitate from doing some plain speaking with Americans on the issue of Indian citizens being radio tagged, irrespective of the traps they have fallen into? They are Indians first and then the students and it is the responsibility of the Indian Government to bring them back if they have done no crime. Why does our media allows the American Counsel General to get away by calling the radio tags being trendy and hip ( Sic) ? Why do we shy away from refusing Visas to Chinese that come to India from the Autonomous Tibet Region or border areas of China with India ? Do you think Americans or Chinese would have behaved in the manner our government has reacted to the radio tagging of Indian students?

Why do our highly informed politicians , industrialists and self styled experts chose to speak so eloquently in their acquired foreign accents in Davos but ignore or brush aside our journalists at home ? Why do only a handful of media speaks on behalf of the entire journalist community?

Why do our socialist and communist leaders speak in hushed tones in the parliament and yet go out and support the Maoists and Naxalites who trap and kill our Jawans, who are simply doing their duty? Why do our rightist leaders speak of Hindu Rashtra when millions of Hindus are stricken with poverty and enslaved by the rightist supported money lenders ? Why are the sane and sincere voices that wish to bring harmony in the country are hounded by the fundamentalists? why do the missionaries convert the helpless tribals and dissidents in the name of progress and yet encouraging primitive and mid-evil practices amongst the converts?

It is said " meek shall inherit the earth" but definitely not India. It is reserved for the corrupt.

And much more, so on and so forth.

The question is why, why and why ?

Have we become a nation of afraid ?

Its time we did some plain speaking and make ourselves heard without being abusive or violent, isn't it ?

I was impressed when Suhel Seth spoke against corruption, nepotism, dirty politicians of India on NDTV.

Hearing him talking to Radia on the X-Tapes was equally disgusting.

What an actor ! My foot ! He is chameleon and the next squatter on a Padma Shri.
Fail to understand all newspapers giving front page coverage to some US envoy who passed away. Is this news so important in a country where poor are dying by the dozen either of hunger, deforestation or forcible occupation of their land by the industry in connivance with the politicians and governments? And why are the leaders of Media falling over each other to give prominence to this envoy's demise on their front covers? Whats their motive? Your comments !

All in the family !

Why hasn't the Main Stream Media spoken against Barkha Dutt or Vir Sanghvi for bring a " NEW " name to the journalism? Or is it as much part of the sham as these journalists are ?

I am told Arunab Goswami ( Times Now ), Rajdep Sardesai ( CNN-IBN), Rajat Sharma ( INDIA TV ) come from the same stable and Shekhar Gupta ( EX. Indian Express) now runs a popular show on NDTV. So, who will bell the cat ?

Its all in the family :).

India " really" shining !!

Journalism at its worst !

It could not get worse than this. A corporate fixer, a lobbyist, a media journalist from the top TV Channel, a journalist of sorts cum gourmet expert, politicians, industrialists from different hues, all planning to manipulate the governance of this country. A shameful act in deed. It shows how deep is the rot and how it is eating into the entire nation. The rich are getting richer and the poor becoming poorer, thanks to the nexus of media-politicians-industrialists-coprporate fixers-under world-builders -judiciary.

There is no need for a foreign hand to destabilize India. The nexus is enough.

The time has come for the people to speak up and stall any further moves by any of the conniving participants of the nexus.

Barkha Dutt has spared no efforts to justify her stand even going to the extent saying the tapes were edited. What about the tapes that she and her channel had shown to the country of politicians taking bribes. Were they also edited by her channel? How could she take the liberty of misusing her channel to justify her talks with Niira Radia ? It is absolutely clear that she was manipulating the politicians with the help of Radia. It is also clear that by using connections and money and muscle power of high and mighty in the industry both Barkha and Niira were defacto influencers.

All I can think of is :

Shame on all those who misuse their position and then use these very politicians to honour them with Padma awards.
